Why Heart & Head?
Because this new newsletter will come from my heart and sometimes it will be from my head. Sometimes both.
[If you signed up for a newsletter from Amandamarks.co.uk, even a good while ago, that is the reason you’re getting this email. Please feel free to unsubscribe if you’ve since changed your mind or forgotten why you signed up. No hard feelings.]
Who am I?
I’m a traveller and have spent most of my life in the travel industry (especially in Africa). I’m a nature lover and tree warden. I’m a writer with two books to my name so far: The True and Chasing Lions.
This newsletter is not an exercise in creative writing. This is more like a journal of random thoughts picked from various aspects of my life.
1. Why this? Why now?
I recently stepped down as founder-director of my travel company, Tribes, after 25 years. Life is changing. I will now be spending more time in nature in the UK, and writing more. Head & Heart will be where I consider aspects of my life, thoughts, beliefs, interests, annoyances . . .
2. Might this be of interest to you?
Each week I will take a letter of the alphabet and topics will range from: Acceptance to Cake, Birch to QiGong, Reading to Mental health, Hiking to Elephants. Did I mention this would be random? But then life is pretty darned random, isn’t it?
Writing is obviously a form of expression but for me it’s also a way of trying to understand life. To grow and learn. If you feel you’re on a similar journey, perhaps you’ll find the odd thing of interest here. And perhaps you’ll occasionally be willing to share your own thoughts and comments about the week’s topic. It’s good to share.
3. When?
My intention is to post roughly weekly, though I’m less sure about which day it might be. If you need precision in all things, I might annoy you. I have learned to accept that I no longer wish to be tied to exactitude.
